Title: PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Salary: $28,000/year

SUMMARY
The
Public Relations Specialist will implement communication strategies/vehicles
(newsletters, bulletins, brochures, etc.) for inter-campus and community
distribution. The Specialist will
develop and assist in developing marketing strategies and campaigns, and will
coordinate special events by the department and other divisions of the College.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.
1. Implements communication strategies/vehicles
(newsletters, bulletins, brochures, etc.) for inter-campus and community
distribution.
2. Writes news releases and feature articles
for college publications such as Staying Connected, reports to the
public, special inserts, and local state and national publications.
3. Represents the Public Relations and
Marketing office at various events.
4. Assists director in maintaining effective
media relations for the college, I.Ed. write news
releases, advisories, public service announcements, brochures, invitations,
supply photos to local media.
5. Plans and assists in coordination of media
events.
6. Assists in development of marketing
strategies and campaigns, writes copy and/or scripts, designs ads, selects
marketing mix in conjunction with Director.
7. Supplies web master with current news
releases for posting on the College website.
8. Assists the Director with planning,
developing and managing special events sponsored by the College.
9. Coordinates calendar of events for college
sponsored activities.
10.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an

1. Excellent writing and verbal skills
2. Ability to manage multiple projects
3. Good computer skills necessary for print
publication
4. Professional writing and editing experience
and layout experience in producing newspaper, magazine, and public relations
materials
5. Experience in developing and implementing a
comprehensive program to coordinate meetings, seminars and other events
6. Excellent organizational skills
7. Willingness to work a flexible schedule and
occasional weekend and evening work when required
EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
*Bachelor's
degree in journalism, communication arts or related field
*Three
years of professional writing and editing experience in producing newspaper,
magazine and/or public relations materials
*Experience
in an educational setting preferred
LANGUAGE
SKILLS
Ability
to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies
and members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to top , employees, public
groups, and/or Board of Directors.
