Job Title:                                IT SUPPORT SERVICES MANAGER

Department:               Information Technology

Reports to:                  Chief Information Officer

FLSA Status:              Exempt

Salary:                        Commensurate with education and experience

Starting Date:             Immediately

SUMMARY

Supervises and ensures the efficient operation of the College’s network infrastructure, client desk computers, and peripheral equipment. Manages staff responsible for technology staff monitoring and diagnosing network and desktop problems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. Other duties may be assigned.

1)      Leads Network Support Services and Technical Support Services departments in operational planning and projects, and organizes and negotiates the allocation of resources.

2)      Manages the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, infrastructure servers, PCs operating systems, and associated peripheral hardware.

3)      Works autonomously with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.

1)      Ensures the efficient utilization of technical resources – including personnel and equipment – across the college district

2)      Oversees all reports and documentation related to network and desktop systems operations

3)      Develops maintenance schedules for network and desktop systems equipment

4)      Practices asset management for technology hardware, software, and equipment

5)      Manages Network Support Services and Technical Support Services’ staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions

6)      Conducts system feasibility studies and testing

7)      Analyzes existing operations and makes recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and desktop systems

8)      Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for technology spending and initiatives

9)      Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with the college’s leadership, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent Technology Resources activities

10)  Conducts research and remains current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of procurement efforts

11)  Oversees network and desktop related projects and project portfolio

12)  Develops and implements all functional procedures, including those for network architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision

13)  Assists in the provisioning of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services

14)   Develops requests for proposal

15)  Performs other duties as assigned

2)      Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems including Cisco IOS and the Microsoft Windows platforms

3)      Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards including Cisco hardware, general networking standards, and best practices

4)      Extensive enterprise level application support experience

5)      Proven experience in network infrastructure planning and development

6)      Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

7)      In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

8)      Strong understanding of human resource management principles, project management principles, and strong leadership skills; demonstrated supervisory skills

9)      Excellent written and oral communication skills

10)  Excellent interpersonal skills

11)  Ability to conduct and direct research into technology issues and products as required

12)  Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment; keen attention to detail

13)  Exceptional customer service orientation

14)  Extensive experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* Minimum requirement of Bachelor degree in computer science; Master of Business Administration with technology as a core component, preferred

* 5 years related work experience

* Certifications in network infrastructure and desktop systems a plus

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a business-friendly and user-friendly language to groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
