SUMMARY
Responsible
for monitoring, reviewing, analyzing, and facilitating students' progress
towards graduation/completion, and is ultimately responsible for ensuring that
the College's student information system (Banner) accurately reflects students'
progress toward graduation/completion and their graduation/completion status
once they have graduated/completed a program of study.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Ensures successful implementation of graduation/completion
initiatives for the Division of Student Services and Development
2. Works closely with the Registrar, Division
Deans, Program Chairs, and other offices to ensure students' degree
requirements are timely
3. Works closely with the Division Deans and
Program Chairs to ensure clear and concise communication with students and
Program Chairs about applying for graduation and their progress towards meeting
graduation requirements, once they have applied for graduation
4. Works collaboratively with Information
Systems to leverage technology, including Banner and Ad hoc reporting, to
facilitate students' progress toward graduation/completion including the
identifying of potential graduates/completers
5. Works collaboratively with partner
institutions of higher education in order to facilitate reverse transfer for
students who have transferred prior to College graduation/completion
6. Maintains records in accordance to STC records retention plan
7. Maintains database of potential graduates/completers;
generates and reviews reports with academic departments/programs in order to
ensure accuracy and efficiency of College graduates/completers
8. Assists students with individual situations
related to completion of graduation requirements
9. Works with the College's Uniform Recruitment
and Retention Strategy initiatives specific to graduation/completion in order
to facilitate the success rates for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board's Closing the Gaps by 2015 Plan
10.
Assists the Vice President with the Division Institutional Effectiveness (IE)
plan segments specific to graduation/completion
11.
Maintains student progress and contacts using database system for performance
documentation and provides weekly and monthly qualitative reports on student
progress toward graduation/completion
12.
Collaboratively develops student graduation/completion strategies and plans for
consideration by the Vice President and other College stakeholders
13.
Directly contributes to increased graduation/completion success as measured by
increased graduation/completion rates
14.
Works collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Research and
Effectiveness to track student graduation/completion rates by Program,
Division, and Campus
15.
Ensures that departmental objectives are established on an annual basis and
that those objectives are aligned with the institution's and the division's
functions and objectives
16.
Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the division, consistent with the
College's mission, philosophy and goals
17.
Serves on College-wide committees as appropriate and as appointed by the Vice
President
18.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an

1. Experience in working with populations who
have faced economic, academic, or physical obstacles to education is preferred
2. Organizational and writing skills should be
well developed
3. Experience with SCT
Banner Student Information System highly preferred
4. Bilingual, English-Spanish preferred
5. Ability to work a flexible schedule, i.e.
days, evenings and/or weekends
6. Must be able to travel to various locations
to work and must have a valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability
insurance
7. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively
with a diverse, multi-cultural student, faculty, and staff population
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills and a demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy of
education
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
*Bachelor's
degree required; Masters degree preferred.
*Three
years of community college experience preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability
to read, analyze, and interpret documents related to
graduation/completion; professional
journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups of students, faculty, staff, administrators and the general public.
