SUMMARY
The Security Dispatcher is responsible for
day-to-day operations of the Campus Dispatch Emergency Office.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.
1.
Appropriately directs all incoming emergency and non emergency calls
through Dispatch and initiates and implements Emergency Protocols
2.
Dispatches appropriate campus security officer, local law enforcement,
local fire and/or emergency department to the various campuses
3.
Coordinates response efforts to units by communicating status of emergency
situations and dispatches backup units if necessary in accordance with Dispatch
safety response procedures
4.
Appropriately communicates by radio or phone with on-campus security
5.
Maintains a dispatch log on all security activities for each campus
6.
Maintains a log for the College's security surveillance camera and
access control system
7.
Compiles, verifies, and maintains data on the assigned databases used in
dispatch on a day-to-day basis
8.
Assists staff in on-the-job training of new dispatchers by instructing,
monitoring, evaluating and reporting progress of trainees
9.
Assists other department staff in routine testing and identifying
equipment, operational and system deficiencies
10. Maintain an effective parking control system
(parking permits and citations)
11. Organizes, plans and coordinates emergency
response procedures throughout the College
12. Maintains, reviews, and updates the security
and emergency procedures manuals and other policies
13. Performs all assigned tasks in accordance
with established rules, regulations and practices, and promptly reports
employee and student related injuries, accidents and incidents to supervisor on
a regular basis
14. Performs related work as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

Strong background in computers including word processing, spreadsheets,
and database management in Windows operation environment

Possesses excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication
skills
3.
Bilingual a definite plus

Security sensitive position; subject to background checks
EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
*Associates degree or a related field or
equivalent experience
*Minimum two years of progressively responsible
experience in a campus dispatch or communication setting, preferred
*Experience and knowledge of campus security and
law enforcement policies and procedures, life safety programs, college
operations, and traffic and parking programs highly preferred
LANGUAGE
SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as
safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals.
