SUMMARY
Supervises the design, administration,
data-collection, analysis, reporting, and presentation of quantitative
institutional research studies in order to provide timely data for decision-making
and evaluation of College and departmental effectiveness
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.
1.
Identifies quantitative research needs
2.
Designs and conducts quantitative institutional research studies,
including the supervision of data collection, analysis, interpretation, and
reporting processes
3.
Develops recommendations for planning and quality improvement of both outcomes
and processes based on quantitative research findings in support of
institutional effectiveness
4. Meets
survey administration timelines for both internal and external survey research
processes
5.
Oversees the design and conducts of survey research studies
6.
Facilitates systematic and informed use of results of quantitative
research within all segments of the College community
7. Work
with Database Analyst to design the development and maintenance of survey
research historical databases including appropriate linkages to system data
8.
Engage in internal and external environmental scanning related to
quantitative educational research and report findings to co-workers
9.
Facilitate automation of reporting and interactive web-based
dissemination of useful information from quantitative research findings
10. Support the work of OIRE in institutional
effectiveness, continuous quality improvement, and planning
11. Serve on the Institutional Review Board to
provide professional consultation related to human subjects research
12. Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the activities of the Institutional
Research Specialist and Research Technician
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

Expertise in quantitative research methods, and in interpreting,
analyzing and applying data
2.
Highly competent in use of statistical, database, and office software
3.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
4.
Graduate-level coursework in quantitative research methodology and
statistics
5.
Direct and recent IR experience in higher education preferred
6.
Specific expertise with SPSS, SAS, Microsoft Office and/or Corel Suite
Applications required
7.
Ability to write SPSS scripts or SAS programs for automating reports
8.
Excellent presentation skills preferred
9.
Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy of education
10. Willingness to work occasional evenings or
weekends as needed
11. Willingness to travel to campuses within the
College District
12. Must provide evidence of competencies in
research methodology and statistics
EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
*Bachelors degree with extensive work in
quantitative research methodology and/or statistics
*Three years work experience in educational quantitative
research
*Masters or doctorate in related field strongly
preferred
LANGUAGE
SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
from groups of managers, clients, agencies, and the general public.
