SUMMARY
Designs, monitors, and coordinates use of central and distributed database solutions. Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the database.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Determines and loads central database storage requirements
2. Evaluates users' requests for new data storage requirements and determines if appropriate for main networked central database or independent user maintained database
3. Monitors database performance on central database
4. Creates and maintains security on central database
5. Develops, manages, and tests backup and recover plans
6. Ensures storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
7. Installs and tests new versions of the database management system (DBMS)
8. Maintains the functionality of the database by ensuring the database and security upgrades are implemented in a timely manner
9. Works closely with system engineers, programmers and web developers in providing technical support
10. Creates procedures and triggers as needed for front-end programmers to execute for data passing
11. Performs other duties as assigned

1. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
2. At least two years experience with databases
3. Familiarity of and some experience with Oracle 10g database
4. Security sensitive position; subject to complete background checks

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer information Systems or related field preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as technical and professional manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
