SUMMARY
Oversees day-to-day Toddler
or Preschool classroom operations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES include the
following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Plans and implements curriculum that
encourages advancement of children's physical, intellectual, and
social/emotional development
2. Develops and implements activities that
promote good health habits and integrates the health and nutrition components
into the classroom
3. Provides a classroom program that builds and
strengthens positive help concepts and individual strengths of children
4. Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy
learning environment
5. Participates daily in lesson planning with
teaching assistants and other staff
6. Implements all necessary documentation to
demonstrate compliance with Center policies and procedures
7. 0Implements and ensures state and local
health and safety policies and procedures are maintained
8. Supervises, guides, and interacts with
children indoors and outdoors
9. Nurtures children's social and emotional
development demonstrating affection and emotional support
10. Attends and
participates in staff meetings and local or out-of-town trainings as assigned
11. Adheres to adult/child
rations as required by state regulations and NAEYC guidelines
12. Demonstrates
involvement in the team assessment of each child and develops individual goals
13. Maintains a
relationship with each family and reviews children's progress with family
14. Works cooperatively
with support staff in the provision of direct services and the development of
goals for children with disabilities
15. Oversees maintenance
upkeep and inventory of classroom, supplies, materials and equipment
16. Reports to work on
regular basis as scheduled
17. Maintains
confidentiality of program staff and child information
18. Demonstrates
professional behavior and conduct
19. Accepts responsibility
for the quality of job performance and make changes as needed
20. Makes commitment to
increase professional knowledge, skills, and competencies in job related areas;
incorporates and demonstrates new knowledge and skills through performance on
the job
21. Performs other related
duties as assigned

Mentors and oversees field
study students from Child Development Program; oversees work study students in
the classroom

13. Must have current CPR
Certification and current First Aid Certification upon hire
14. Food handling
certificate preferred
15. Must have complete
immunization records in compliance with Department of Health regulations
16. Knowledge of National
Association for the Education of Young Children guidelines
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
*Associate degree in a
related field required; Associate degree or Bachelor degree in Child Care and
Development preferred
*Minimum 12 semester
credits from a regionally accredited institution in Child Care and Development
required
*Minimum of 2 years
experience in a child development center environment
*Other combination of
experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be considered
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common regulatory specifications and
technical journals, procedures and/or related legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or
complaints from customers, parents, regulatory agencies, or members of the
business community. Ability to
effectively present information to management, parents and/or the general
public.
