Title: DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES

SUMMARY
The Director of Library Services is responsible
for the overall administration and operation of library services at all
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.
1.
Administers all aspects of library services for the multi-campus
district
2.
Maintains the library as a user-friendly, multimedia learning
center. Actively consults with faculty,
students, and staff in utilizing library resources and developing programs to
serve their educational needs
3. Works
with academic leaders in integrating information literacy into and across the
curriculum in support of the teaching and learning goals and objectives of the
college
4.
Maintains awareness of developments in informational technology and
instructional media and their relationship to the library as teaching and
learning resource
5.
Participates in a variety of campus, regional and statewide committees
and represents campus issues, ideas, and concerns as appropriate
6.
Actively participates in district-wide planning activities
7.
Oversees library lending, collection maintenance, service agreements,
and all user services
8. Works
with the division of Information Services and Planning
to update and expand library services to an online environment
9. With
the advice and active, regular input of faculty and staff, selects books,
periodicals, audiovisual materials and other information resources to support
the campus mission and curriculum
10.
Maintains up-to-date holdings, records, and files necessary for access
and inventory of library holdings; collects, evaluates and reports data,
regarding library's collections, in a timely and accurate manner
11.
Supervises all library staff, including support staff and student
employees; develops and provides training in conjunction with other appropriate
offices (e.g., I.T., Financial Aid)
12. Plans
the library budget in consultation with the Vice President and campus
librarians
13.
Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
*Masters Degree in Library Science from an
*Relevant supervisory experience in a related
work environment required
*Doctorate with experience in a community
college setting and experience leading library services in a multi-campus
setting is highly preferred.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and
legal documents. Ability
to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory
agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to
students, top
management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
