Job Title:                      ASSISTANT TO THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR INSTRUCTIONAL

                                    SERVICES      

Department:                Vice President for Instructional Services

Reports To:                  Vice President for Instructional Services

FLSA Status:               Exempt

Salary:                                     Commensurate with experience and education

Starting date:               As soon as can be arranged.

Closing date:                Open until filled.   

 

SUMMARY

Provides assistance and support to the Vice President for Instructional Services and provides leadership and direction to the development of Curriculum and Programs, Instructional Projects, Distance Education, High School Programs and Services, Professional Development, and the area of Academic Excellence which includes Valley Scholars and the Honors programs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.   Provides assistance and support to the VP for Instructional Services with five instructional divisions throughout the service area district

2.   Provides leadership and direction to the development of Curriculum and Programs, Instructional Projects, Distance Education, High School Programs and Services, Professional Development, and the area of Academic Excellence which includes Valley Scholars and the Honors programs.

3.   Promotes development of a learner-centered philosophy, focusing on faculty and staff commitments toward student learning and success.

4.   Works closely with instructional leaders in the assessment of the educational quality and effectiveness of all instructional programs and participates in formulation of plans for continued improvement  

5.   Assists the VP for Instructional Services with monitoring budgets, verifying compliance with policies in the area of instructions, and ensuring compliance with accreditation

6.   Assists the VP for Instructional Services with recruitment and development of strong professional and caring faculty

7.   Collaborates with the business and industry community and educational partners for the development of high quality instructional programs

8.   Promotes inter-institutional cooperation with four-year institutions and public schools

8.   Creates a well-structured and consistent work environment; monitor and verify compliance with policies in the area of instruction

9.   Represents the College in the community and the regulatory agencies, local boards, and advisory councils

10. Performs other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Directors, Coordinators, and support staff in the area of the Assistant to the Vice President for Instructional Services

10. Ability to be effective in the fast-paced, stressful and growth-oriented environment of STC

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's degree required, Doctorate preferred

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
